Wallbox (NYSE: WBX), a global leader in EV charging and energy management, has announced a new partnership with Bidirectional Energy. The two company’s have been selected by the California Energy Commission to receive funding from the competitive CEC REDWDS grant.
The CEC Clean Transportation Program provides $100 million annually for innovative transportation solutions. Bidirectional Energy and Wallbox are proposed to receive $2.2M in Phase 1 funding for deploying Quasar 2 chargers in California homes.
Quasar 2 is an advanced 11.5kW bidirectional charger, enabling EV owners to power their homes or return energy to the grid.
Wallbox estimates that Quasar 2 and the Bidirectional Energy platform can save users over $1,000 annually through Demand Response programs and time-of-use rates.
