Uber Technologies (NYSE: UBER), a global alternative transport company, and Waymo have announced a new partnership to make autonomous driving technology more accessible.
By combining Waymo's expertise in autonomous driving with Uber's vast networks, this collaboration has the potential to revolutionize transportation. The initial phase will launch in Phoenix, where Waymo's operations already cover the largest fully autonomous service area in the world.
Users will soon experience the safety and convenience of Waymo vehicles through the Uber and Uber Eats apps, while still having the option to directly hail a Waymo vehicle. Together, Waymo and Uber are driving us closer to a future where self-driving cars are a reality for all.
Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber stated: “Fully autonomous driving is quickly becoming part of everyday life, and we’re excited to bring Waymo's incredible technology to the Uber platform.”
Founded in San Francisco in 2010, Uber has changed the way people move, giving more than 39 billion rides globally.
Shares of Uber Technologies trade on the NYSE under the ticker symbol UBER.
