Surf Air Mobility (NYSE: SRFM), the air mobility platform transforming regional flying through electrification, and Azul, Brazil's largest airline, are teaming up to introduce electric Cessna Caravans into Azul's fleet, aiming to reach a net-zero carbon emissions target by 2045.
Their joint vision for environmental progress positions them to fast-track electric aircraft development. Collaborating on technical and regulatory specifications, they aim to pave the way for certifying electric planes in Brazil. Azul presently operates 27 Cessna Caravans across 80+ Brazilian destinations, and this partnership intends to upgrade these planes to fully electric powertrains once Surf Air Mobility's technology is certified. The new technology is expected to cut operating costs by up to 50% and completely eliminate carbon emissions, revolutionizing Azul's flight operations.
Stan Little, CEO of Surf Air Mobility stated: “We’re very excited to work with Azul to help us design our technology and define how our electric powertrains can best be deployed within an existing regional network in order for passengers to gain as much benefit from the technology as possible.”
Surf Air Mobility is a Los Angeles-based regional air mobility platform expanding the category of regional air travel to reinvent flying through the power of electrification.
