Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ: RIVN), a leading manufacturer of electric vehicles, has introduced a new midsize platform for its R2 and R3 product lines. 

The R2 is a five-seat midsize SUV with a distinctive Rivian design, offering performance, utility, and an open-air driving experience. The interior is user-friendly and features flat-folding seats for versatile cargo space. 

The R3 is a compact crossover with impressive performance, off-road capability, and scalability in design. Both models will have two battery sizes, with the larger pack providing over 300 miles of range and rapid acceleration.

The midsize platform integrates advanced design elements, high-pressure die castings, and a structural battery unit, reducing complexity. Both models utilize Rivian's drive unit platform and self-driving capabilities, featuring 11 cameras, five radars, and advanced computing for enhanced autonomy. Fast charging, adaptability for various motor configurations, and a focus on software updates ensure continued improvement and expansion of features.

R2 pricing starts around $45,000, and reservations for R2 are open, with deliveries expected in the first half of 2026, with R3 deliveries will follow.
