Joby Aviation (NYSE: JOBY), a leading developer of eVTOL aircraft, has successfully concluded its pre-production flight tests. The company is now directing its attention towards the next phase, where Joby will utilize its production prototype aircraft to prepare for upcoming credit flight testing.
Over the past four years, Joby's pre-production aircraft completed over 1,500 flights, covering 33,000 miles, including numerous flights with pilots onboard. Notably, in 2021, Joby showcased a flight of 154.6 statute miles on a single charge, featuring vertical take-off and landing capabilities.
In collaboration with NASA in 2022, Joby confirmed its aircraft's quiet acoustic footprint and demonstrated impressive speeds and altitudes. The following year, Joby expanded its flight test program, including piloted flights and pioneering the first electric air taxi exhibition flight in New York City.
In 2024, partnering with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Joby completed 31 pilot-on-board flights in two days, highlighting the aircraft's operational capabilities and precision landing.
