EVgo (NASDAQ: EVGO) has announced a partnership with Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) to support an Alexa-enabled electric vehicle (EV) charging experience.
This collaboration will allow drivers to find and navigate to nearby EV charging stations, as well as initiate and pay for charging sessions at EVgo stations using Alexa. The in-vehicle functionality will be rolled out to Alexa-enabled vehicles and automotive accessories like Echo Auto later this year.
The partnership will leverage PlugShare and EVgo Inside to allow customers to find nearby charging stations, access a public EV charging map, and initiate and pay for charging sessions using the Alexa app. In the future, customers will also be able to view real-time charger availability and view session and billing information.
The collaboration with Amazon comes as EVgo continues to expand its partnerships across industries, working towards shared sustainability and electrification goals through its charging solutions and technology offerings.
Cathy Zoi, CEO at EVgo stated: “EVgo and Amazon’s shared principles of being customer-centric and committed to a sustainable future make innovative experiences like voice-initiated charging possible. EVgo is proud to be Amazon’s first charging network partner to enable this Alexa experience.”
Founded in 2010, EVgo is building and operating the infrastructure and tools needed to expedite the mass adoption of electric vehicles for individual drivers, rideshare and commercial fleets, and businesses.
Shares of EVgo trade on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol EVGO.
