Archer Aviation (NYSE: ACHR), a leader and innovator in the development of eVTOL aircrafts, and United Airlines have announced plans to launch the first air taxi route in Chicago.
The route will connect O’Hare International Airport and Vertiport Chicago. The convenience, access, and service offered by Vertiport Chicago make it the perfect takeoff and landing site for this airport-to-city-center route.
The initial focus of the launch routes will be on airport-to-city-center transportation service, with plans to “branch” routes to connect surrounding communities. The introduction of UAM services has the potential to revolutionize urban transportation by offering a fast, efficient, and sustainable alternative to ground transportation, especially during rush hour traffic.
The partnership between United and Archer is part of their larger goal to provide safe, sustainable, low-noise, and cost-competitive urban air mobility, starting in 2025.
Adam Goldstein, Archer’s Founder and CEO stated: “We’re looking forward to working with state and city leaders to bring an innovative transportation solution to the City of Chicago and its surrounding communities.”
Archer Aviation, based in Santa Clara, CA, is designing and developing electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for use in urban air mobility networks.
